Downers Grove Junior Woman's Club Awards $20,000 in Scholarships to Deserving High School Seniors

Congratulations to the 2024 Senior Scholarship Recipients!

Downers Grove, IL - The Downers Grove Junior Woman’s Club is thrilled to award 8 deserving District 99 high school seniors $20,000 in scholarships.

High school seniors who reside in Downers Grove or attend a Downers Grove Community High School were eligible to apply. Scholarship recipients were selected based on academic merit, community involvement and commitment to volunteerism. After reviewing over 32 submissions from outstanding individuals, the following seniors were selected to receive $2,500 each:

  • Malini Fisher, DGN - Attending University of Michigan

  • Pallavi Fisher, DGN - Attending University of Michigan

  • Andrew Hardy, DGN - Attending University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign 

  • Lauren Hill, DGN - Attending University of Kentucky

  • Rebecca Law, DGN - Attending University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign 

  • Gina Liu, DGN - Attending University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign 

  • Adam Meitz, DGS - Attending University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign 

  • Gabriella Okuku, DGS - Attending University of Connecticut 

“We were overwhelmed by the incredible applications we received from this year’s senior class. The applicants participated in a number of philanthropic activities over their high school career, along with excelling academically, which made it difficult to narrow down the recipients during the selection process. The final recipients showed dedication to the community through established organizations as well as creating their own where they found a need. We wish them the best in their college career,” said Krista Nadeau and Annie Sprau, DGJWC Education Co-Chairs.

The Downers Grove Junior Woman’s Club is dedicated to supporting education throughout the year by awarding annual scholarships, teacher grants and junior high artwork. Since September, DGJWC has donated over $32,000 towards enhancing education for teachers and students.  

The Downers Grove Junior Woman’s Club would not be able to achieve this unprecedented level of giving without the support of their community sponsors and members. Their annual fundraiser, Denim & Diamonds at the Derby, is on Saturday, May 4th and is open to the public. All members of the community are welcome and encouraged to attend.
