Junior High Students Recognized with Art Awards by Downers Grove Junior Woman’s Club
Downers Grove, IL - March 20, 2024 - The Downers Grove Junior Woman’s Club (DGJWC) recognized seven junior high students for excellence in creative arts.
Artwork of any medium was welcomed for the annual program hosted by the local women’s volunteer organization. From 25 submissions from local 7th and 8th grade students, the following awards were presented:
Best in Show: Bee, Sullivan Shea, 8th grade Herrick
1st 7th grade: The Stalker, Maahi Shah Herrick
1st 8th grade: Lady, Camryn Tallarico O'Neill
2nd 7th grade: The Glass Dragonfly, Alex Sherlag Herrick
2nd 8th grade: The Hunter, Eden Stava Herrick
7th grade Honorable Mention: The City, Zoe Bendik Herrick
8th grade Honorable Mention: Rito, Alondra Beening Herrick
“We are always impressed by the students in our community and this year is no different,” said Allison McNulty, president of DGJWC. “We hope that this program encourages these students to continue their incredible creativity in the future.”
The winning artwork will be on display throughout March at the Community Bank of Downers Grove. Located at 1111 Warren Avenue, Community Bank has proudly supported DGJWC’s art awards for decades.
