Downers Grove Junior Woman's Club Marks 60th Anniversary With Gift to the Downers Grove Public Library

DOWNERS GROVE, ILLINOIS - In honor of the Downers Grove Junior Woman’s Club (DGJWC) milestone anniversary, the organization graciously supplied new interactives in the Kids Room play areas of the Downers Grove Public Library. New early childhood educational items debuted at the library in August and have been a hit among the library’s youngest patrons. 

 "To commemorate our Club's 60th Anniversary, we were looking for ways to donate to the community,” said DGJWC President Colleen Schaefer. “So many of our members, past and present, have utilized the services of the Downers Grove Public Library for their or their children's benefit. That being said, it made perfect sense that they should be our beneficiary. We are honored and excited to be in a position to provide these additional resources that Library patrons can enjoy for years to come.”  

 The DGJWC’s donation will also provide additional STEAM kits for the Kids Room. The new kits will be added to the library’s Anything Emporium collection of robots, circuitry kits, and other activities that library cardholders can check out and take home. 

 Next on the DGJWC Agenda: Celebrating their Milestone 60th Anniversary! They are asking all DGJWC members, past and present, to join them in celebrating 60 years of service and commitment to the community. The festivities will take place at Cadence Kitchen & Co. (5101 Mochel Drive, Downers Grove, IL 60515) on Saturday, September 21st from 1:00 – 4:00 PM CDT. They will be honoring members past and present with appetizers, raffles, giveaways and a signature cocktail for a special toast! If you have any questions regarding this event, please reach out directly to the DGJWC.
