Conservation
and Community Affairs (CCA)
The Conservation and
Community Affairs Committee promotes the conservation of our natural resources.
It informs the membership on matters of legislation and civic affairs while
working for the betterment of our community.
Projects
include Make A Difference Day, Easter Baskets for Seniors, Meals on Wheels and the
Woman Volunteer
recognition.
Education
The Education Committee is responsible for education
and scholarships. Its goals are to keep the club current on community education issues
and provide special educational services to the schools, library, and children
of Downers Grove, in addition to educational programs for club members.
Projects include a
babysitting course for teens,
celebration of American Education Week/Teacher Appreciation Day, adult and teen
scholarships,
Outstanding Teacher Awards, book sale, and book club.

Membership
The Membership Committee
monitors all aspects of the general membership. Committee responsibilities
include recruiting new members; hosting new member coffees, luncheons, and
socials; recognizing outstanding members; maintaining attendance records;
publishing the annual Yearbook and the monthly newsletter (Hotline), and
maintaining the club calendar. This committee also acquaints new members with
our club, its procedures and projects.

Philanthropies
The Philanthropies Committee
researches and reviews all donation requests submitted by members, committees,
and organizations. When a request is received, the recipient organization or
individual is investigated and, if the committee approves it, the request goes
before the general membership for discussion and approval. After final approval,
the committee distributes the money to the designated recipients, which includes
scholarship awardees. This committee is also responsible for the dedication of
library books honoring the president as well as each baby born during the club
year.
Press and
Publicity (P&P)
The Press and
Publicity Committee is responsible for informing the public of the
accomplishments and upcoming events of the club through local newspapers, radio,
website and television broadcasts. This committee works with other club committees to ensure adequate
coverage in the media. This committee also presents membership with Junior
Fashions, coordinates club participation in the Ice Sculpture event, facilitates
designing and building of the 4th of July float for Downers Grove Parade, and
compiles the President’s scrapbook, which is presented at the May Installation
Banquet. Lastly this committee serves as the webmaster for this webpage.
Program
The Program Committee is
responsible for securing a location and making all arrangements for the club’s
monthly general meetings, presenting stimulating speakers or programs to the
membership, and serving refreshments at these meetings. This committee plans the
May Installation Banquet and sets up seminars throughout the club year based on
recommendations or requests by the membership.
Social
The Social Committee provides social activities
during the club calendar year for members, spouses, and families. These
activities might include a holiday party, mom & tot playmates; wine tasting,
progressive dinner, Appetizers at Seven, ladies luncheons, a Night of Beauty,
and dinner theatre outings. Annually, the committee plans new in-club socials
from ideas gathered from members.
Ways and Means
(WAM)
The Ways and Means Committee
raises money to support club's philanthropic endeavors. Drawing on the support
of the entire club, the committee plans and organizes fund-raisers as voted on
by the active members of club.
Taste of the Town
has been the club’s major fund-raising project. New events are planned for
2008
and
2009.
